Good Dog! started with a collection of photos taken in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. If you look close enough, most of them are labeled with the name of the person and the name of the dog. I knew I wanted to try something with boxed, vignettes and this was the perfect opportunity. I slowly started collecting the dog figurines. The figures had to be vintage in appearance. I found the boy with the cards in his hands a long time ago. He must have been broken off of a larger Norman Rockwell looking sculpture. His hand looks like it was made to be petting a dog and this pewter Pekingese fit perfectly! Some of the other artwork behind the dogs is actual advertising from the 30’s and 40’s which I included because they featured or included a dog in them. There are also a couple of unique hand carved and painted dogs. It took 8 months to collect and assemble this sculpture. The last piece I found and added was the white and black dog sitting on the red can next to the boy. This is a piece that will surprise you every time you look at it.
